THE RESOLUTION REQUIRES
To include women in all levels of decision
making concerning war and peace – national, regional, and international
UN GENERAL SECRETARY:
To incorporate general perspective
in peacekeeping operations
Promote women as envoys и special representatives, the
heads of missions, military observers, police and humanitarian personnel
THE MISSION OF THE
SECURITY COUNCIL:
To take into account the gender
issues and women’s rights
To hold consultations with
women’s groups – with the goal of better understanding their needs and
requirements.
THE RESOLUTION TELLS GOVERNMENTS:
YOU MUST PROVIDE PROTECTION FOR WOMEN
During conflicts: women should
not become targets or hostages
It is necessary to carry out a
court investigation of those who are guilty of rape
During the process of
regulating conflicts, the special requirements of women and girls should be
taken into account during all stages
The interests of women must be
incorporated into all peacekeeping operations
Peacekeeping personnel must be
alert and well prepared, attentive and responsive
Governments must observe all international
rights standards, adopted for the rights and protection of women and children.
YOU ARE OBLIGATED TO
SUPPORT THE ACTIVE ROLE OF WOMEN
It is necessary to strengthen the
participation of women in all levels of decision making in prevention and
regulation of conflicts and in peace building
Incorporate women in all aspects of peace keeping
Support local peace initiatives,
promote women
Incorporate women in activities
of all structures related to the realization of peace agreements.
The Resolution Demands:
That gender issues are taken into account during the creation of peace
agreements
That the special needs of women and girls are taken into account during
post-conflict reconstruction: repatriation and settlement, rehabilitation,
reintegration – all efforts to restore a peaceful existence
Support for local peace
initiatives from women. It is necessary to include women in the implementation work
of those initiatives.
That the protection of the rights of women and girls is included in
peace agreements.
The Resolution
Calls on ALL PARTIES TO ARMED CONFLICT:
to adhere to all international
law applicable to the rights and protection of women and girls
take special measures for the
protection of women and girls from sexual abuse, and all types of rape
to respect the civilian and humanitarian character of refugee camps and
settlements, and to take into account the particular needs of women and girls
THE RESOLUTION DEMANDS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF ALL
GOVERNMENTS!
Governments are responsible to
bring those guilty of crimes against women to justice through a court of
law.
